In 1992, I took this picture on Kabul airport just before taking a helicopter flight to the bagram air base.

Though the defeated Soviets had left in 1989, the base was under Kabul regime control for 3 years & had just been captured after the fall of Kabul to Mujahideen.

Today, I saw the pictures of last US outbound flight from the same Bagram airbase....and nostalgia & throwbacks to my early life adventures in these killing fields came back strongly.

If "history being repeated" had a face, you can see it in Afg today after nearly 30 years..

I am hearing all the "experts" & "analysts" on media that a "civil war" in Afghanistan would be catastrophic for Pakistan.. 😏

I remember hearing the same bull crap back in 1989 as well when Soviets left & a "civil war" ensued.

Guess what, nothing bad happened to Pakistan!

Once Kabul was finally captured by forces of Ahmed Shah Masood, Dostum & Hazaras in 1992, I went to Kabul to see Masood. Kabul was divided between various factions & Hekmatyar was rocketing it from outside.

Yes, it was a civil war....but it never bothered Pakistan.

This "civil war" between various former Mujahideen factions lasted another 4 years till 1996....but again, it never harmed Pakistan. Indian military influence was totally eliminated from Afg & that removed all terrorist threats to Pakistan.

There was NO terrorism from Afg.

After 1996, the "second phase" of "civil war" started when Kabul was captured by Afghan Taliban & they were at war with factions of Masood, Dosturm & Hazaras.

But Taliban was fiercely anti-Indian & they had eliminated all Communist & Indian assets from Afg.

Jackpot for Pak.

So, since 1947 till 2021, the period between 1992 to 2001, when Mujahideen & then Afghan Taliban were ruling Kabul, was the only period when there was NO terrorism coming into Pakistan from Afghanistan.

The issue of Pashtunistan was dead, Indians were defeated, BLA crushed!

After 2001, It was the US invasion of Afghanistan, removal of Taliban & arrival of Indians in Afg that opened the gates of hell for Pakistan. Every savage terrorist org was created, equipped, trained, based & then launched from Afg by CIA/RAW/NDS/Mossad.

Pakistani policy makers & strategists must know ONE critical fact.

As long as Afghanistan is occupied & Indians have a foothold there, Pak will continue to bleed as we have done for the past 20 years.

1. In Afghanistan, there are NO deobandis / Barlevis. These sects are in India/Pakistan only, not in the Muslim world. In Afghanistan, they are only divided into Shias and Sunnis. All sunnis are hanafis.
Hekmatyar, Rabbani, Sayyaf, Khalis, Mujaddadi, Ahmad Shah Masood, Gilani etc were the Mujahideen leaders who fought the Jihad and represented Afghan people. All followed Sufi lines as well. None were deobandis.

Mullah Omer studied in a madrassa only in Pakistan because he had no choice. He was a kid and had to enter any madrassa. That does not mean he support the Deobandi ideology or their past history of supporting the Hindu Mushriks and opposing Pakistan. So make it clear -- Afghan Mujahideen are NOT deobandis. Mullah Omer is against TTP, which the Pakistani deoobadis support.

2. In Kashmir, there are two main groups fighting now -- JuD, they are ahl Hadees and not deobandis. And Hizbul Mujahideen, led by Syed Salahuddin, who is a sufi/barelvi/ahl sunnat.

There was Jaish and Harkat and AlBadr also previously but they joined TTP. Ilyas Kashmir, Ismat ullah Muawiyyah and Major Mast Gul are examples of this. they left Jihad and joined Khawarij. Now they are all with TTP at the moment or killed.

Pakistan was NOT made by Deobandis either. Allama Shabbir ahmed Usmani was NOT deobandi. It is like saying Quaid e Azam was a Congress party member :))) Quaid was in Congress but he left it and joined Muslim League. Similarly, Allama Usmani left Deoband and formed his own party Jamiat ulama e Islam and joined Quaid e Azam. He was attacked, humiliated and insulted by Deoband for joining Quaid e Azam. Quaid gave him great respect and even Namaz e Jinaza of Quaid was led by Maulana Usmani. He is NOT a deobandi but has become a Muslim Leaguy.

2. Masood/Ustab Rabbani – Sunnis closer to Ikhwan and Maulana Maududi.
3. Hekmatyar – closer to Ikhwan and Maududi.
4. MUjaddadi. A sufi order of Afghanistan.
5. Pir Gilani – a sufi order of Afghanistan.
6. Yunus Khalid / Haqqani – typical maulvis from local afghan madrassas.
7. Sheikh abdullah azzam and arabs like Osama - all salafis.

Which Afghan Jihad was fought by deobandis ??????????????? why do deobandis claim today that they defeated soviet union ??

Even today, Mullah Omer and his team are NOT deobandis. They are Afghan sunnis. This deobandi barelvi fight does NOT exist anywhere in Muslim world nor they exist anywhere else in mainstream society.

There are nearly quarter of a million weapons stolen from NATO forces and containers which pass through Pakistan and those weapons have destroyed the US, as no countyr was allowed to give weapons to Afghan Taliban !! If Pakistan was supporting US, we would have destroyed Afghan Taliban and Haqqani, we did not do that. We could not supply Afghan Taliban with weapons, so we allowed the supplies into Afghanistan where Afghan Mujahideen robbed the containers and armed themselves !

Of course, NATO also used this supply to arm TTP and occupy Afghanistan but unless Pakistan decide to eject the foreign forces from Afghanistan, the only way to deliver weapons to Afghan Mujahideen is NATO supplies :)

If we want to destroy TTP, we must throw the Americans out. Otherwise, just blocking the supplies going into Afghanistan would also block Mujahideen weapons.
