1965 war was fought in September.
1971 started in November & ended on December 16th.

War clouds are gathering again....December is a painful month for Pakistanis.
We suffered two deep wounds in this month...on the same date ... December 16th.

In 1971, we lost half of the country in a high intensity war where everything went wrong.

In 2014, the #APS_Massacre. Hundreds of kids /killed/wounded.

We Pakistanis are strange people....very strange indeed. We are resilient, brave, hospitable yet extremely naive, silly & dangerously reckless. We never learn from history...never!

We never learnt any lessons from fall of Dhaka or slaughter of APS children. Imagine .....!!Fall of Dhaka teaches us one critical lesson...Never blindly trust the leadership!

The collective wisdom of Military & pol leadership, of the entire state & its organs can also be so horribly wrong that it can destroy the country. 1971 was a catastrophic leadership failure...

There is a dangerous & silly trend in Pak to see all failures in the light of Civil-Military relations, both camps blaming each other for collective failures.

Fact is that 1971 was as much a military failure as it was political. If Yahya failed, then Bhutto & Mujeeb betrayed tooArrogance, ignorance & incompetence make a lethal destructive suicidal combination for any leadership. Add treason & betrayal to the mix & you have a recipe for national disaster, as we had in 1971.

On these counts, we still stand frozen in time....same lethal combination.

East Pakistan debacle gives us another critical lesson...
Once the political & military leadership collapsed or betrayed & sold the country, then in the end, the entire weight of saving the country fell on the Pakistan army. They fought desperately & bravely but it was too late..

Today, when India has annexed Kashmir & planning another invasion of Pak & stirring internal unrest to create urban chaos, I shiver when I see the insane quality of the pol leadership we have, the level of the national narrative being discussed & carnival mood in the nation.

If Pakistan has to go to war with this quality of leadership, then surely we will take huge losses before the Pak army begins to regain ground. This army will fight like tigers, I have NO doubt....but the national leadership is dangerously un-seriousness, naive & ignorant.

I am a soldier. A veteran. Have seen wars & seen how bad leadership destroys entire armies & the nation.
I will be the last person to take the present threats from the enemy lightly.
I am seeing this suicidal tendency in the Govt & the nation to ignore the threat. Dangerous!

For the first time in the last 10 years, we are seeing this determination,courage and the clear thinking within the military leadership to finally do which should have been done years ago. The new leadership has indeed risen to the challenge - both in the GHQ and in the ISI - now pushing the weak, corrupt and afraid political leadership to justify their paychecks.

We see a bright 2015 for Pakistan IA. The cancer that has spread in the very fiber of the society and state is being surgically removed now. It is going to be bloody, messy and even brutal but it has to be done. Then the long therapy and rehabilitation process would begin. Pak army is leading the fight no doubt but it has to see if the present political baggage can be dragged or will have to be dumped as the going gets tough in the coming days. With the Indian threat looming on the East, this present political lot is a huge risk factor army should do without.

For now army is pushing the political gamblers but will have to be careful to avoid a backstab by these very treacherous and venomous gang of the corrupt who are now in panic and seeing the rising power of the army as a direct threat to their political and economic interests.

The threat levels would remain high in the country for the next few weeks. The war has entered its decisive phase and the backlash from the desperate cut throats is a real possibility. 1. In Afghanistan, there are NO deobandis / Barlevis. These sects are in India/Pakistan only, not in the Muslim world. In Afghanistan, they are only divided into Shias and Sunnis. All sunnis are hanafis.
Hekmatyar, Rabbani, Sayyaf, Khalis, Mujaddadi, Ahmad Shah Masood, Gilani etc were the Mujahideen leaders who fought the Jihad and represented Afghan people. All followed Sufi lines as well. None were deobandis.

Mullah Omer studied in a madrassa only in Pakistan because he had no choice. He was a kid and had to enter any madrassa. That does not mean he support the Deobandi ideology or their past history of supporting the Hindu Mushriks and opposing Pakistan. So make it clear -- Afghan Mujahideen are NOT deobandis. Mullah Omer is against TTP, which the Pakistani deoobadis support.

2. In Kashmir, there are two main groups fighting now -- JuD, they are ahl Hadees and not deobandis. And Hizbul Mujahideen, led by Syed Salahuddin, who is a sufi/barelvi/ahl sunnat.

There was Jaish and Harkat and AlBadr also previously but they joined TTP. Ilyas Kashmir, Ismat ullah Muawiyyah and Major Mast Gul are examples of this. they left Jihad and joined Khawarij. Now they are all with TTP at the moment or killed.

Pakistan was NOT made by Deobandis either. Allama Shabbir ahmed Usmani was NOT deobandi. It is like saying Quaid e Azam was a Congress party member :))) Quaid was in Congress but he left it and joined Muslim League. Similarly, Allama Usmani left Deoband and formed his own party Jamiat ulama e Islam and joined Quaid e Azam. He was attacked, humiliated and insulted by Deoband for joining Quaid e Azam. Quaid gave him great respect and even Namaz e Jinaza of Quaid was led by Maulana Usmani. He is NOT a deobandi but has become a Muslim Leaguy.

This is the real story ! Rest are all propaganda lies by the pro-TTP Khawarij.
