Typical of those suffering from arrogance of knowledge and desperate to belittle Baba Iqbal. Read his mail and then my reply to him. wanted to share with you all for the sake of education as this is the mindset that Iqbal and we today have to face when the thekedari of Mullah is challenged.

His mail:
Islamic laws are eternal and revealed by Allah and practiced by Holy Prophet (SAW) that Sunnah. Nobody can write the Islamic laws.
Contemporary issues which are not mentioned in the Holy Quran and Sunnah have to be deduced by Jurisprudents (FUQAHA) from Holy Quran and Sunnah and should be in complete confirmity with the Holy Quran and Sunnah.
Dr. Muhammad Iqbal was a poet and philosopher and not a Jurisprudent (Faqih) to deduce the Islamic laws.
My reply:
Dr. Iqbal’s idea was to create an Islamic university of top Islamic scholars from all over the world to gather and deduce laws for the modern times. The need for modern laws of an Islamic state is dire and NOT addressed by Islamic scholars so far. All Muslim states use fake paper currency and use same Jewish banking systems without having an Islamic model of economics for an Islamic state. These and many similar issues compelled Iqbal to float the idea of a fiqh for the modern times drawn from the wisdom of Quran.
To reduce Iqbal to a poet and a philosopher would be another great zulm with this Wali. He was a Momin, with a firasat and Sharah Sadr of a Wali Allah, a deepest understanding of Quran and a world class international lawyer and a deep scholar of Islamic history and jurisprudence. It is strange to say that a Faqeer whose vision could see beyond centuries was just a poet and a philosopher.

When we explained the point that Baba Iqbal wanted to write a new Fiqh for the present times, we are receiving many queries and questions regarding the issue. Indeed this is a delicate subject for the free and knowledgeable people only, otherwise ordinary jahil people tend to think that Iqbal wanted to change the shariat :-) .

You can understand the vision of Baba Iqbal from this fact that NO such university exist still in the entire Muslim world today, NOT even in Iran, NOT even in Saudi Arabia NOT even in Pakistan or Turkey.. This is the ultimate tragedy..
No serious scholarship is being done to write laws for an Islamic state in the 21 century, despite the resources and manpower available.
